Infants - 6 weeks to 1 year
Your infant is precious and deserves the best care possible when away from you. Our infant room is a safe, colorful, loving environment where your baby can best develop in areas like:
Gross Motor Skills – climbing, crawling, rolling, bouncing, walking, etc.
Fine Motor Skills – grasping, holding, grabbing, playing with toys.
Language and Communication – In addition to verbal communication, we encourage the use of baby sign language to help infants learn to communicate their needs long before they can verbalize them.
Creative / Sensory Development – As your infant grows and develops, they get to experience a variety of sensory experiences. Such as playing with whipped cream, introduction finger painting, and water play. We also give younger babies opportunities for supervised "tummy-time", which is a safe way to help them strengthen many of their supporting muscles.
Other – We prepare your baby’s transition to the toddler room by helping your baby:
· Transition from baby food and bottle to table food and using a sippy cup.
· Adjust to the toddler schedule of a single nap during the day
· Slowly transition into the toddler room over several weeks so that the change is as easy as possible.
Toddlers through Pre-K ~
We are looking forward to an exciting year! We will be offering a wide range of preschool activities this year through our new early learning curriculum program, developed by FunShine Express. Your child will be enjoying the Sprouts(TM) early learning curriculum. The curriculum includes creative art materials for each child, alphabet and language activities, music and movement, hands-on math and science, social activities and games. We believe children learn best through interacting with their environment and we strive to present activities with that in mind.
Each month, your child will participate in activities related to three educational themes. He or she will also be introduced to three alphabet letters, one color, two to three numbers, and one shape each month. You can expect related activities to begin arriving home regularly.
You will receive a copy of our monthly newsletter, along with Weekly Family Notes. These resources include a description of each theme's goals, a list of the songs and rhymes your child is learning, a Book List, and more. You may wish to gather some of the suggested book titles to share with your child at home.
PROGRAM GOALS~
*Our curriculum is based on current research and sound educational theories of early childhood learning and development.
*We will provide a wide range of hands-on, interactive materials allowing children to experiment and explore their surroundings.
*The activities and projects provided will stimulate ceativity and build a positive self-image in each child.
*The program will encourage involvement of family members in each child's learning.
Our program in strongly focused on "Developmentally Appropriate Practice", meaning that our activities and programs take into account what each child is ready for. Children should be offered a wide variety of hands-on opportunities to explore the world around them. Practices that do not take into account the developmental readiness of each child can be detrimental to a child's self-confidence and independent thinking. Children can also be deprived of opportunities for individual expression, and are not able to practice decision-making. This type of environment does not promote skills and discipline, is frustrating to a child's creative attempts, encourages inflexibility and rigidity, and does not provide for emotional release.
Our curriculum is designed to be open-ended and flexible. We stress that activities be child-directed and provide ideas that teachers and caregivers can implement to insure appropriateness. To a great extent, each teacher determines how the program is used in their particular setting and makes their own decisions on structure.
As Parents, you can support developmental appropriateness by following the lead of your child's teacher. Be supportive and involved in their efforts! A good program offers children a wide variety of experiences. Also, remember that children can accomplish many things without you seeing a specific project each day.
Preschool activities can challenge your children to be creative, as well as to develop emotionally, cognitively, socially, and physically. Appropriate activities can also build self-esteem and enthusiasm.
Finally, all you busy moms will have enough time to get everything done!
Many preschool programs only give your children a couple hours of instruction, which isn’t enough time for you to accomplish much of anything. Here at Little Treehouse Academy, we have put together a comprehensive and fun learning program where your preschooler will gain the necessary skills to make a strong entrance into Kindergarten. We know how important it is to develop those young minds, while giving you the time you need to recharge, too. You can use this extra time to run errands, clean house, get your hair or nails done, get your shopping done, meet with friends, or just get some much needed rest and relaxation!!
